Former Secretary to the Enugu State Government, Chief Onyemuche Nnamami has accused the Enugu State chairman of the party, Dr. Ben Nwoye, of ridiculing President Muhammadu Buhari. Nwoye had criticized Buhari over his renomination of former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama. According to Nwoye, Onyeama was destroying APC in the state. “This is a man who has penchant for thuggery and pulling down of the party structure,” he had alleged. Reacting, Nnamani accused Nwoye of committing “anti-party act”. The screening of the ministerial nominees has continued into its third day. Of the 43 names which were submitted on Tuesday by President Muhammadu Buhari, 24 have been screened. The first to be screened today is the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami. Others also expected to be screened today include Festus Keyamo, Geoffrey Onyeama, Hadi Sirika, Lai Mohammed, Raji Fashola and Paullen Tallen. The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Friday received another batch of 171 stranded Nigerians from Libya. Alhaji Idris Muhammed, Coordinator, Lagos Territorial Office of NEMA, who was represented by Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, Public Information Officer, said the returnees arrived the Cargo Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport about 1.10 a.m. on Friday. He said that they arrived aboard an Al Buraq Airline aircraft with registration number 5A-DMG and flight number UZ 196/25. According to him, the returnees were brought back by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and European Union, under the Assisted Voluntary Returnees (AVR) Programme. Muhammed said the figure comprised 61 female adults, one female child, and five female infants, as well as 98 adult males, one male child and five male infants.
